THANK YOU WEEK OF COMPASSION!
It’s Thanksgiving Day and I especially want to give thanks for Week of Compassion. A couple of weeks ago when I called and told you about our Greene County Interfaith in eastern North Carolina, I was proud of our church and how quickly and easily WOC was able to respond. As you know, every which way we turn we run into “red tape” and we desperately needed immediate funding. Thank you so much for all you do and please tell Disciples everywhere that their expressions of love do make a difference.

Greetings from Micronesia in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is with great thanksgiving that I write on behalf of the United Church of Christ in Pohnpei and the people of this island who are presently suffering through an epidemic of cholera. Your gift of $5000 will be used to purchase portable water purification equipment to be used in affected villages to provide safe drinking water. It was wonderful news when we learned that you had offered to help. Being so small, we are an often forgotten part of the world. Thank you for remembering us. Please share our thanksgiving with all the people who helped make this possible.

My heart was touched by the receipt of the gift of $20,000 from the Week of Compassion Office for the Turkey shipment. This response initiative to the earthquake has been such a positive experience for my colleagues and me here at Interchurch Medical Assistance. But more than that, has been the generosity of Christians here in North America to reach out to the people of Turkey in their time of need, doing so through organizations like the Week of Compassion. My faith in the work of the Church has been strengthened by this out-pouring of concern, and I wish to express my deepest gratitude to WOC for your partnership with I.M.A. in this project and the witness for Christ that we can provide together.
