2006 Response Fund Report - Second Quarter
Dear Friends:
Greetings from Week of Compassion, and thank you for your continued generous and strong support of WOC. Your generosity, concern and prayers are bringing help and hope to thousands of people in need throughout the world. We are grateful; many are grateful.
Within the WOC budget, the single largest line item is the Compassion Response Fund. It is through this account, along with special designated accounts, that WOC responds promptly to emergencies, disasters and other critical humanitarian requests as they arise. Below is a brief summary of responses we've made this year from the Response Fund and from certain designated disaster accounts. This does not include resources we are providing for long-term development projects, partners, etc., but is a good overview of the many emergency needs to which we Disciples are responding. From our Response Fund and special designated disaster accounts, we have responded to a variety of emergency humanitarian appeals and requests on the average of once every 1.2 days thus far in 2006!
More than 600 Disciples congregations are now using the new WOC interactive map/poster to track both emergency responses and our long-term development responses on a weekly basis. It is a great way for your members to see how their gifts to WOC are being used around the world and around the year. A complete list of those responses is available on the WOC website: www.weekofcompassion.org. For a complimentary map/poster call Elaine Cleveland at 317.713.2442 or email her at ecleveland@woc.disciples.org.
